Hitler in 1938.

Adolf Hitler was the leader of the National Socialist German Workers Party, or Nazi Party, which seized absolute power in Germany in 1933. Following this, Hitler declared himself Führer (or "leader") in 1934, thus making him the absolute head of state of Germany, which became a single party dicatorship under Nazi rule.

In 1939, the German Wehrmacht, under Hitler's watch, invaded Poland, starting World War II.
